Hello

Like books and history?

We have lots in common!

My Story

Cat Weldon is a children's author who writes funny middle grade fantasy stories with a particular interest in offbeat fairy tales and world mythology.

Her debut trilogy, How to be a Hero, was published by Macmillan Children's Books and her new graphic novel series Amelia Cheeseheart Investigates will be in bookshops later this year published by Guppy Books.

This year Cat has been busy with school and library visits, both online and in person. Including presenting assemblies, leading creative writing workshops and challenging students to her now infamous True or False Viking Quiz (she remains undefeated - it’s the did Vikings wash their hair in wee question which catches everyone out!). Her school visits are always complimented, especially for her ability to engage with students and bring loads of energy to the classroom. Cat has also worked with the National Literary Society to encourage Early Years reading in primary schools.

As well as schools Cat has also popped up to give talks at the Stonham Barns Viking and Saxon Festival and told Norse sagas at the East Anglian Storytelling Festival, and appeared at Primadonna Festival 2024. She has also been the featured author for the Jorvik Viking Centre’s Bloodaxe Book Challenge

With a Master’s degree in Scriptwriting and a background in children’s theatre, Cat now splits her time between writing, teaching, and chasing her collection of delinquent chickens through the neighbours gardens.

Cat lives in East Anglia with her family and can often be found in museums. Although she has a favourite cup, it has never recited poetry to her.
